Destination
Beijing
Beijing, formerly known as Peking, has been the heart and soul of
politics and society throughout China’s long history. It was the capital
of the former imperial dynasties. Beijing is the home of the magnificent
Forbidden City with its multitude of palaces and temples which were
homes to China's emperors.
Today, as the capital of modern China, Beijing is the nation’s political,
economic, cultural, and educational center as well as its most important
center for international trade and communications. All of this means
that Beijing is a modern, fashionable city, full of 21st century vitality
and brimming with activity. However, it is also a short ride from
one of China's historical icons—The Great Wall—the only man-made structure
visible from space satellite photos.
Beijing is an experience not to be missed. http://www.bih.com.cn
